Snowshoeing holidays in the French alps

Snowshoeing holidays in the French alps

A fantastic un-discovered secret. That's a summary of snowshoeing.

Think of taking a walk in a vast snowscape, away from everything other than the native wildlife and natural landscape. Add in frozen waterfalls, animal tracking, spectacular views and top it all off with a mountain refuge lunch-stop or late afternoon vin chaud. Now you have a picture of snowshoeing. You might even get to build an igloo in the trees or stay in a mountain refuge as part of a longer two-day trip.

We’re delighted to offer for the first time this winter season the opportunity to take a fully catered Snowshoeing chalet holiday. We have teamed up with Jamie Carr who is one of the best & most knowledgeable snowshoeing guides in the area to bring this experience within reach of our guests. You do not have to be a fitness freak to enjoy snowshoeing, a person of average fitness will be more than capable of doing all of our Snowshoe walks.

Your weeks Snowshoeing holiday will include

  • 7 nights accommodation in our luxurious Chalet Falcon
  • 6-nights evening meals with complimentary drinks (see Food & Drink for full details)
  • Breakfast and afternoon Tea
  • Fully guided snowshoe walks on 5 days
  • Route maps / guidebooks for extra routes
  • Provision of one pair of Snowshoes/person
  • Guiding by an English speaking Guide who is fully qualified to lead Snowshoe walks in France.
  • Transport to and from the chalet and start & finish locations
  • Full use of all chalet facilities
  • Opportunity for an overnight refuge stop

A week Snowshoeing Holiday includes all of the above for just £750 (please note that we require a minimum of 6 guests for a full weeks Snowshoeing Holiday).

As with our Skiing holidays your holiday does not include

  • Transport to and from our chalet in Samoens (see About Samoens for more information)
  • Lunches
  • One night evening meal in a local restaurant
  • Lift passes as required (some walks may use a chair-lift to access higher slopes)
  • Refuge accommodation & meal if a 2-day refuge trip is chosen (€30 will however be refunded for each missed evening meal at the chalet)

Skiing guests can also take a day or two break from skiing to venture out on Snowshoes. Equipment can be hired locally in Samoens, then you can either follow one of the marked routes close to the town, or we can book a Snowshoe Guide to take you on a more adventurous full-days walk. Contact us for more information if you are interested in Snowshoeing during your holiday.
